今日はアドベントの二番目のキャンドルに火をつける日です。
四本のろうそくには意味があります。
それは希望、愛、喜びと平和(平安)です。
ある方は四番目のろうそくに「きよさ」と言う意味をつけています。
またクリスマス当日には、五番目のろうそくに火をつける習慣もあります。
これは “Christ Candle”(キリストのろうそく) と呼ばれ、キリストが世の光であることを覚えるものです。
クリスマスに近づけば近づくほど、光は強くなり、広がっていきます。
主が来られることを待ち望み、希望、愛、喜びと平和(平安)を受け入れ、暗闇にいる方々に福音を伝えて行きましょう。

Today we light the second candle of Advent.
For each candle there is a meaning: hope, love, joy and peace.
Some people call the fourth candle the candle of purity.
There’s also a tradition to light a fifth candle at Christmas.
This is called the Christmas Candle to remind us that Christ is the Light of the world.
The nearer we draw to Christmas, the brighter and wider the light will shine.
As we wait for the Lord’s coming, let’s receive hope, love, joy and peace to share with those who are in darkness.
