ある時、彫刻家ミケランジェロが大きな大理石の固まりの前に立って、それをじっと見つめていました。
「何を見ているのですか？」
と聞かれた彼は、
「この石の中に閉じ込められている天使です。私はその天使を解放するつもりです。」
と答えました。
人はそれぞれ厳しい状況の中に「閉じ込められて」いて、そこから逃げ出して自由になりたいと思うことがあります。
ところがイエス様があなたをご覧になる時は、過去の失敗や罪ではなく、ご自分の愛する子としてあなたをご覧になります。
そしてあなたのために、希望と将来と目的を持っておられます。
主は共におられ、彫刻された天使よりもさらに美しい者にあなたを形作っておられるのです。

Michelangelo was once standing in front of a huge block of marble, looking intently at it.
When asked,
“What are you looking at?”,
he answered,
“I see an angel trapped in the stone and intend to release him.”
We also get trapped in difficult circumstances from which we we want to run away and get free.
But Jesus doesn’t look at our past, failures or sins. He only sees us as his beloved children and he has hope, future and a purpose for us.
The Lord is with us and is shaping us into something much more beautiful than a sculptured angel.
