受難節第５主日。
今日の聖餐式によって、私達は十字架の血潮の力にあずかります。
イエス様は最後の晩餐の時パンを裂き「これは私のからだです」と言われ、
また杯を取って「これは私の血です」と弟子達に与えて言われました。
「取りなさい！」
「私を覚えて行いなさい！」
ただ受け取るだけでなく「覚えて行なうこと」には、
「ただで受けたのだから、ただで与えなさい」と言う意味があると思います。
イエス様が世が生きるためにパンとぶどう酒になられたように、
私達も飢え渇いている世のために、裂かれたパンと注がれたぶどう酒になっているのです。

The 5th Sunday of Lent.
Through today’s communion we are partakers of the power of the blood that was shed on the cross.
At the last supper, Jesus broke the bread saying, “This is my body”.
He then took the cup saying, “This is my blood” as he gave it to his disciples.
“Take it!”
“Do this in remembrance of me!”
We’re not only to receive it, but do it in remembrance of Jesus.
I believe this also means that we are to give freely as we’ve freely received.
Just as Jesus became bread and wine to give life to the world,
we too are to be broken bread and poured out wine for a hungry and thirsty world.
